Pinnacle Behavioral Health Adolescent IOP

Since 2006, the mental health and education professionals at Pinnacle Behavioral Health have assisted adolescents and their families through the difficult teenage years. Our residential treatment program and therapeutic day school programs have helped thousands of teens who were struggling with learning challenges, behavior or mental health issues.

Pinnacle professionals never take the approach of "one size fits all" treatment plans. We evaluate, assess, diagnose and develop a comprehensive treatment plan for each child and family. The success of our residential treatment program in Elkmont, AL led to the development of an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in Huntsville, AL.

We recognize that personal progress involves self discovery, and sometimes that requires more time than weekly counseling sessions allow. Our Intensive Outpatient Program was developed for adolescents who are in need of a more intense intervention to allow time for an accurate diagnosis to be determined and/or halt maladaptive behaviors.

Benefits of an Intensive Outpatient Program

Pinnacle Behavioral Health Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is licensed by the State of Alabama Department of Mental Health to provide therapeutic services to boys and girls ages 13 - 18 with a primary diagnosis of substance abuse. Substance use disorders, however, rarely develop without a co-occurring mental health issue such as depression, anxiety or abuse. This is commonly referred to as dual diagnosis.

Pinnacle's IOP provides direct services to youth who do not require medical detoxification or 24 hour supervision. An IOP is less restricted than inpatient or residential treatment and more structured than outpatient therapy sessions. An IOP easily accommodates a school or work schedule. It is a healthy alternative to residential placement and is more often covered by the client's insurance.

Pinnacle can accommodate in-person or virtual IOPs.

Evidenced-Based Treatment Model

All programs of Pinnacle Behavioral health provide evidenced-based therapeutic treatment with the disciplined, highly structured and respectful environment that is necessary for life changing discoveries to occur. Experienced and caring professionals work together to challenge and guide adolescents to a path of self-awareness.

Telehealth provides less formality and a more relaxed environment that many adolescents and teens prefer. In addition, this generation has grown up with screens as a portal to communicate. There is no learning curve for them.

Pinnacle's Ongoing Treatment Philosophy

The treatment philosophy of Pinnacle Behavioral Health is founded on the realization that emotional, behavioral and substance abuse problems that adolescents experience are complex and multi-determined. Contributing factors can be bio-chemical makeup, personality type, specific developmental or learning disabilities, family structure and functioning, and social environment.

Typically a combination of these factors has caused significant disruption in the cognitive, emotional and behavioral development of the adolescent. Rather than simply treat the symptom (example drug use), Pinnacle's mental health professions help its clients uncover the core issue driving the maladaptive behavior. It is at this stage that progress in treatment accelerates.

Introducing teens to better coping skills leads to long-term healthier, happier lifestyles. It is our goal to provide an environment of respect, acceptance, skill development, and challenge which fosters the personal development and emotional growth of our clients.

We are one component of a continuum of growth for struggling teens and their families.
